Lessons
Objective: The student will be able to navigate and utilize the teacher sponsored website to find information.
Materials: Chromebook, Google Form link, parent letter, post-it notes
Introduction: I will do a quick review of the components of the website. I will explain to the students that this website will be used to share information about the class, find information and provide extensions for in class activities. I will also explain to the students that this is a site for their parents to find information about what is happening in the classroom. I will also have a pamphlet prepared for the parents to use.
Activity: We will be filling out a Google Form that will take students through scavenger hunt of the site. Students will read the questions and search through the website to find the answers. Students will complete the form and submit it through Google Classroom which they are familiar with using. I will also pull a small group to teach them how to use the Google Extension Read & Write. This extension will assist students in reading the website and even writing out their information in Google Forms.
Ending: Students will share 1 thing that they like about the site and 1 thing that they disliked about the book. We will write this down as an exit ticket that they will stick on the whiteboard to share with the class.

Student Training
The students will be using Google Forms that will lead them on a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt asks them to search through the website to become familiar with the website. This will show that the students are taking their time to learn how to navigate the site. I will also be using this as an opportunity to teach a group of students how to use Read & Write.
Prior to completing the scavenger hunt, I will demonstrate how to use Google Forms and submitting through out Google Classroom. I will also demonstrate how to navigate between pages on a computer screen. Students will then review the site to answer the questions on the form.

Diffusion Innovation
Who will your adopters be?
My adopters will be my 3rd grade students and their parents.
What communication method will be used to share this idea?
I will communicate to the students how to use the website during the activity above. Students will learn how to use the site through the scavenger hunt. Parents will be given a document that has my websites address on it with directions on how to use the site. By this time students will be familiar with the site and will be able to assist their parents in its use.
What do they need to know?
Students will need to know how to enter or search for a website. Students will also have to know the basics of navigating through a website. Students and parents will also need to be given the web address to get to the website. The parent letter will provide steps on how to use the site.
What time-frame is used to share this innovation?
I will share the web address and the information on how to use the site after Christmas Break. Students will complete the scavenger hunt in January and parents will get the initial parent letter that same day. Then I will update the website through out the school year for the parents to have all the current information.
What is the social system you will infuse (i.e. grade/team, building, district, etc.)? How will it happen?
I will infuse my website through my grade band. I will work with the other teachers to make sure that all parents have the information and resources that we use in the class. The website will be updated weekly on Sunday so parents will be able to check first thing on Monday. The initial information will be shared through a pamphlet for parents that will be sent home with the students. Students will complete an in class activity to become familiar with the site.
